Selling Learning Products Online – Part 2

Once you have encouraged some interest in your online learning product it is time to give them what you promised.

So how do we do that?

Well, let’s hope that you have already given serious thought to this question before undertaking this journey. So now it is a matter of taking what you have knowledge in and finding a way to package and send it out to hundreds and thousands of eager potential customers.

Platforms to Present Your Course In

In the age of high-speed information, both in presentation and in absorption, people like to have the option to learn as fast as they can. Although this sounds like a great solution when you are pressed for time, you can find that you do not always get the best value from your e-learning when you try to take in too much too fast.

That’s why you want to offer your customers a choice of at least two of the folowing three methods of presenting your course.

VIDEO

Everyone loves video…

Especially when it comes to learning. It makes things crystal clear, plus you can stop and start the video so that you can follow things more clearly. The only downside is that you cannot underline anything, or highlight it. Plus, it can be more time-consuming when you just want to refer back to a specific piece of information.

Worst of all, if you are following an in-depth course, it’s very hard to sift through for something in particular that you want to find, especially if you can’t remember exactly ‘which step in which module’ you had seen it in.

PDF OR DOCUMENT

It may take more effort from you than sitting back and watching the information being fed to you but, the written word is still King!

As mentioned before, if there is a piece of text that you happen to get excited about and you know it will come in useful later, grabbing a highlighter helps you keep that information in mind – as well as being reasonably simple to find.

Using the search tool is a simple way to find your important reference too. Obviously, this can make finding your info when you need it, quick and simple. That is why many people who offer the video course also give their students a downloadable document that they can use for easy reference.

PODCAST

A waste of time??

Who said that?!

With VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) technology being the latest big sign of our times, we as product designers, need to understand it and utilise it more.

Now is the time that voice products will be integrated more and more into our daily lives. With time being our most precious commodity – to an extent, more than it has never been before – we sometimes find that we do not even have the time needed to WATCH the video series. So what’s the next best alternative?

Listen To It

No images needed (we do have brains and we can visualise). So when you are driving to work or to the next appointment, you can now switch on the PodCast version of your course and continue on your merry way.

Use it for marketing, education, entertainment or plain old listening but VoIP is definitely growing up to be one of the big contenders in the area of presenting your courses, so it would be a good time to get a handle on it and implement it into your strategies.

OTHER

There is also the APP.

Hmmm, you might say. The ‘APP’ is something else… and truth be told you would be absolutely right.

But learning through an app is totally a ball game of its own. You usually would have to hire super-cool app developers to put it together for you but they are quite expensive. As always, with the digital age revolution upon us, you can find some super-cool techies at super-low prices.

They are out there on the net, but I will leave you to do that outsourcing by yourself.

These guys and girls are usually overseas, have a lot of tech knowledge and are able to offer incredibly low prices, but there is always the element of risk involved with what quality you will receive and if you do happen to be disappointed with the result, you may find it hard to question if they do not work locally or under the same regulations that you may be used to.

So perhaps the word of advice here is “Enter at your own risk”.
